Armathwaite Station

The railway station at Armathwaite is the last station on the Settle and Carlisle Railway before Carlisle.

There were three other stations between Armathwaite and Carlisle which saw closure in the 1940's and 50's - Cotehill, Cumwhinton and Scotby.

The station, opened in 1876 by the Midland Railway has been part of the LMS and London Midland Region before sectorisation in the 80's.

Today all services are operated by Northern Rail.
